Interview Insights: IIM Mumbai ✍️

Here are some insights from the interview I had at Indian Institute of Management Mumbai:

The panel consisted of two female panelists, both around 35-40 years old, who were very friendly. I was the last candidate from my panel. As soon as I entered, I greeted them, and they asked me to take a seat. Surprisingly, they complimented my hair, which I wasn't expecting as an opening statement (not atleast from their end 😂).

They then asked me to introduce myself. From my introduction, they inquired about my scholarship, how one can get it, and the required marks and all. They literally opened up my UG marksheet in front of them digitally and asked me questions related to some minor subjects from different semesters such as technology, IT, Statistics and some microeconomics. They also asked me questions about my work with an NGO and whether I am genuinely interested in sustainability ♻️. They even asked me to name all 17 Global Sustainability Goals, which I managed to do. We discussed the criteria for a smart city, and I shared my knowledge on the topic.

They questioned why I wanted to pursue a general MBA given my diverse background and suggested that I might be better suited for a master's in my subject. I explained why I believe I am a perfect fit for the Core MBA program. When asked about my gap year, I straightforwardly answered that I was preparing for exams. 📝

At the end, they inquired about my hometown and remarked that many good-looking girls come to Mumbai for movies and cinema, referencing my Miss India participation. They appreciated that I was looking for greater opportunities like an MBA and working hard towards my goals. They asked if I would prefer Sustainability Management over a Core MBA, given my interest in sustainability. I responded diplomatically with a smile. ♻️

The interview concluded with them smiling and indicating that we were done. It was of around 15-17 min interview.

Verdict ✅: converted the Core MBA in WL-3 and SM in the first list itself.

Both panelists were very kind and made me feel comfortable throughout the interview process, pushing me towards better opportunities and providing generous feedback. ❤️
